Here is our review of the WearIQ Smart Glasses, a new line of budget-friendly eyewear distributed by Walmart and produced by Amazing Impulse.
WearIQ Wireless Smart Glasses are easy to use, stylish, and affordable. My initial thoughts upon putting them on is that they were lightweight and user friendly. Continued use confirmed both of these early takeaways.
Multi-functional and competitively priced, WearIQ glasses will leave users pleasantly surprised by what they get from such a low price point. Need blue light shielding, UV protection, sporty shades, or sunglasses for everyday use? Want a way to connect easily with the audio and voice assistant features on your phone? These smart glasses just might be your new go-to option.
But can affordable smart glasses really deliver quality? Well, we put them to the test.
Who is it Good For?
- Cost Conscious Buyers: these glasses squeak in at just under $20, selling for $19.88 at Walmart, making them affordable and competitive.
- Outdoor Enthusiasts: whether you’re walking, hiking, biking, gardening, running, or enjoying any outdoor activity, these sunglasses check all the boxes.
- Indoor Screen Users: their blue light blocking lens option might just be what you need to keep eyes from fatiguing during device time.
- Alert Individuals: these frames let users keep ears open and stay aware of their surroundings while still enjoying audio connectivity from phones and other bluetooth devices.
WearIQ Smart Glasses Overview
Lightweight, sturdy, and overall comfortable, most people will probably like the way these glasses feel. They felt snug and secure while running or biking, stable without being too tight. But of course that’s just part of what you want to know here, like how was the sound?
As someone who spends considerable time outdoors, running, hiking, walking, and exploring, I put these glasses through their paces across all my favorite activities. I also wore them extensively while driving.
While I’m no stranger to sunglasses (I wear them religiously in sunny weather), smart sunglasses were entirely new territory for me. Here’s what I discovered.
Let me start by letting you know that I am already an avid user of open-ear audio technology like Shokz headphones. When I run, I want my ears to stay open to the world around me. If someone is coming up behind me, I want to know about it. If there is a car speeding nearby, I need to be able to hear it!
Safety is important to me. I’ve rotated my way through various open-ear audio options, and each one fits a little differently when I’m also wearing sunglasses or a hat at the same time.
When I was running while wearing the Wear IQ Smart Glasses, my ears didn’t need to compete for real estate between my audio device and my glasses… everything was integrated into one.
I liked the freedom of only needing to wear one item over my ears. I was able to listen to music and connect to my phone without bringing my wireless headphones along for the run.
The other big win for me with these glasses was how much I liked having them with me in the car. I now keep a pair in the glove box at all times. They are so easy to pull out, put on, tap a button, and then have them sync up instantly with the audio and voice assistant features on my iPhone.
I was able to listen to music, make phone calls, and use Siri to send and read text messages all while driving safely.
How to Use:
Turning on and pairing the glasses to your smart device or phone is easy, you simply push and hold down the button on the side of the glasses.
This is the only button on the glasses, and you’ll use it to answer calls, end calls, pause music, and resume playback. Tapping the button twice activates the voice assistant on your iPhone or Android device. One negative, however, is that there are no buttons for volume control on the frames.
The only way I found to modify playback volume without pushing the buttons on my phone was to use the Siri feature on my iPhone after activating the voice assistant feature. I would’ve overall preferred to simply have buttons to push right on the glasses.
I found the sound quality on the Wear IQ Smart Glasses to be surprisingly decent. The small speakers sit close to your ears, so people around you are unlikely to hear what you’re listening to.
There is a small amount of sound bleed if the volume is turned up very high, though. I didn’t feel the speaker quality matched that of dedicated earphones. The playback became a bit tinny, buzzy, and less enjoyable at an extremely high volume. (The bass on them isn’t great, so don’t expect an immersive experience.)
That said, at normal volume, the audio playback was really good. I had phone conversations, streamed music, and listened to audiobooks and podcasts with no issues.
My only other note is that I sometimes would notice a very faint white noise when the glasses are first turned on. This tiny, whooshing sound can occasionally be heard during phone calls (though it isn’t noticeable to the person on the other end) and isn’t noticeable at all when listening to music.

Quick Take
Pros
- Long battery life
- Stylish
- Great value
Cons
- No immersive sound
- No volume control
- Does not turn off automatically
These glasses come in a variety of frame and lens colors. I found them to be simple, but stylish. Basic, but not cheaply made. They felt sturdy and solid. I liked having the option of a classic, black frame and lens as well as the option for a colored, reflective lens. Indoor users can also opt for the clear, blue-light blocking lenses.
Battery Life
The battery life proved to be another unexpected plus for me.
When tracking their juice, I found they drained at a rate of about 10 percent an hour… which means their claim to 10 hours of playback time is accurate.
The glasses don’t turn off automatically, so if you want to save them from eating into the 200 hours of standby time, you’ll need to press and hold the button on the frames to power them down.
One thing to watch out for: avoid pressing the button on the frame during a phone call. I accidentally hit it while adjusting my glasses, and our conversation was instantly cut off!
WearIQ Smart Glasses Fit
These sunglasses offer a familiar, typical fit. They are a comfortable size and have a straightforward design. However, my husband borrowed one of my pairs and claims they are now his favorite sunglasses.
They fit the frame of his nose perfectly, and he prefers them to the other ones he owns. (So, I might not be getting that pair back from him!) The frames have a curved edge that fits snugly over the ears. I also found them to be sturdy, yet pliable.
Whenever I try new sunglasses, one of the first things I check is whether they bounce while I’m running. If they bounce, it’s a dealbreaker for me! Seriously, I can’t have them hopping around as I run.
Luckily, these sunglasses behaved and stayed in place. I also use the ‘smile test’ when trying new glasses. I check to see if they lift up off the top of my nose when I smile, rising over the bridge of my nose and my cheekbones. Unfortunately, these glasses do “take off” a bit when I smile.
I did occasionally find them a bit stiff over the curve of my ears and would have preferred a softer, more rounded feel. That said, the glasses are so lightweight that it rarely bothered me.
Our Verdict
The Wear IQ Wireless Smart Glasses are a solid choice for anyone looking for reliable sunglasses at an attractive price. Lightweight, versatile, and durable, they offer good value for the money. With technology this accessible, they’re definitely worth trying if you’ve been curious about smart glasses with essential functions!
