The ladies get A LOT of attention around here, but that doesn’t mean we’re not thinking about you gentlemen!

We’ve got a team of male testers who have been hitting the gym, the trails, and the links to come up with some of the best fitness gifts for men! We’ve got a detailed best runner gifts list, so we really tried to lean into all the other activities for this guide.

And of course, we created an equally awesome best workout gifts for her list!

Neutral Fitness Shoes – On Cloud X5

Why we recommend it: It looks good, it feels good, and it’s just the right amount of cushion.
Who it’s best for: The guy who is new to the gym, doing some Hyrox or other fitness classes.
What to know before buying: It’s not for heavy lifting, but more general gym and plyometric workouts. On Cloud x5 UpperWe talk a lot about the On Cloudmonster around here because it’s a great running shoe, but if your guy is doing more gym work, maybe Hyrox planning or you just want them a more stylish comfortable shoe for travel, meet the X5!

Great for reducing impact on your body and joints! Our tester heavily recommended these HIIT and cardio classes.

I could see the X5S also working well for certain cross-training. You’ll have the support you need for those elliptical, incline walk, stair stepper days.

Our tester wore the X 5s exclusively on a work trip, which included long days on the manufacturing floor and lots of steps through the airport. The Helion superfoam felt just as supportive at the end of the day, as when he first put them on in the morning.

They were comfortable and supportive, even after long days (plus they have a more stylish look!). This is one of many reasons On is popular with healthcare workers; these would also be great for those trips where you’re exploring a new city and walking all day.

Smartwool Socks (starting at $18)

Why we recommend it: Ideal for any season, they have a variety of lengths, styles and feel great.
Who it’s best for: The sweaty guy who might need a little extra odor protection or those doing a lot of winter sports.
What to know before buying: If you buy one of the thicker sock options know that will change how their shoes fit.smartwool running socksMerino wool is a fiber you can wear year-round thanks to its ability to regulate temperature, move moisture, and resist odors.

This makes it perfect for winter, as it keeps your feet warm while still being moisture-wicking AND summer. Truly one thinner pair can work for both, but we also like to go a little heavier for seriously long winter days outside.

They also call their wool technology ‘Indestructawool,’ which features a construction method that’s known for its incredible durability. So, if you’re looking for running socks that’ll last, these are the ones for you!

What’s also great about Smartwool is you can get a variety of designs and also heights. We’re big fans of their trail park design series.

Arm and Hammer Odor Busters for Gym Bag (or shoes) ($11 for 6 pack)

Why we recommend it: Super small and easy to keep around for when things get stinky.
Who it’s best for: The guy who is always dealing with sweaty shoes and a gym bag.
What to know before buying: These odor busters do just that- reduce odor, but they’re not a replacement for actually washing your gear.

arm and hammer

These are the perfect stocking stuffers and can be used for so many things. Throw them in a gear closet, sock drawer, or even a gym bag to help things stay a little fresher.

Since they’re pretty small, it’s an easy thing to keep on hand for when you need to freshen your gear up a little bit.

Rechargeable Cordless Jump Rope ($27)

Why we recommend it: A fun way to squeeze in a quick cardio workout just about anywhere.
Who it’s best for: The guy looking to add variety to his cross-training routine.
What to know before buying: The cordless jump rope is great for smaller spaces, but it’s going to feel a little different than a traditional rope.

jump rope

I selected this one specifically because you can use it with or without the actual rope. Jumping rope has so many benefits for quick cardio, but tripping and falling is our least favorite. Plus, sometimes you don’t want to hear that slap of the rope, so now you can do the workout sans rope.

The handles count your jumps, and all data goes into an app for review. So you can have it set to a timer, to count up or to count down.

Under Armour Tech Shirt ($20)

Why we recommend it: It’s a great shirt for everything from daily runs to strength training or even as athleisure for running errands.
Who it’s best for: He is a guy who is looking for a comfortable, non-compressive workout shirt.
What to know before buying: It’s a little heavier material, so while you may not grab it in hotter temps, it’s a good between-season option.

best mens running shirt

Women have so many options when it comes to workout t-shirts, but sometimes finding a good one to gift to a special man in your life can be tricky, especially if you’re not looking for the generic ones out there.

The shirt has a nice loose fit, so if you’re not a fan of clingy or more compressive tops, this may be a good option. UA’s tech fabric is quick-drying and soft, and it has odor-control technology.

Honestly, I’ve gone through SO MANY UA shirts over the last 20 years running! They’re good quality and get the job done on a budget.

In addition to coming in a ton of colors, one of the most attractive features of this shirt is its price point. At only $25, it’s incredibly budget-friendly.

For those in warmer climates, it is a good shirt for the transition periods between cool and hot weather.

Slam Ball ($18-50)

Why we recommend it: It’s a piece of gear that can be used for so many different types of workouts- strength, balance, coordination, and power.
Who it’s best for: The guy looking to add some resistance to his workouts.
What to know before buying: Not all medicine balls are designed for slamming; make sure to check before using it for HIIT-type workouts.

Unlike medicine balls, slam balls are designed for throwing or slamming into the ground. They allow us to have a combo strength and high-intensity workout session.

Available in a variety of weights to suit the user, these are durable rubber balls filled with sand or gel.

Toloco Massage Gun ($40)

Why we recommend it: Even though it’s a budget-friendly option, it still works just as well, if not better, than some higher-end massage guns.
Who it’s best for: Runners who want a massage gun but don’t want to spend over $100.
What to know before buying: You’ll need to buy the case separately from the massage gun and attachments.

Toloco Massage Gun

Don’t let a low price fool you into thinking it can’t do the job. It can! It has over 61,000 reviews and is still at 4.5 stars, which says a lot to me because people are hard to please!

It has 20 speeds, making it easy to choose your power level. In the box, you’ll also find different massage heads to target different muscles.

And in comparison to other massage guns on the market, it’s pretty quiet, so you’re not going to disturb anyone else in the room while using it.

Core Power Elite ($43 for a pack of 12)

Why we recommend it: This is our go-to for travel and trail days because it doesn’t need refrigeration and is already mixed
Who it’s best for: A busy guy looking for quick, easy ways to get more protein post-workout.
What to know before buying: It’s lactose-free and has 26 grams of high-quality protein.core power drinks

No shaker cup needed!!! No chalky taste; it’s really like the chocolate milk so many love for recovery.

Core Power’s protein comes from ultra-filtered milk, which gives you the high-quality, complete protein you need to support recovery. This ready-to-drink vanilla protein shake has 26 (or 42) grams of high-quality protein without any powders added, so the texture is smooth and creamy.

It’s lactose-free, which makes it a big win for my stomach. And especially during the summer, I’ll go through one of the 42 gram elite drinks per day as I drink some post run and use more in my cereal for an evening snack. It’s a delicious way to get in my protein!!

Garmin Golf Finder ($599)

Why we recommend it: It’s like a fitness watch, but with all the fancy GPS technology you need for a solid game of golf.
Who it’s best for: The guy who’s a runner but also loves spending time on the golf course.
What to know before buying: It’s a splurge gift, but it has all of the features a golfer could ask for, like course maps and slope-adjusted distances.

garmin golf finder

For the runner who also loves hitting the golf course, this is a pretty fun gift. It’s a GPS laser rangefinder that helps take the guesswork out of each swing.

There are detailed course maps and helpful distance information to improve your golf game. If it all sounds foreign, you’re not alone. But if he loves to golf and wants extra course and performance data, this is a gadget to add to his gear.

Ultrahuman Air Ring ($479)

Why we recommend it: It tracks your health and recovery without a smartwatch.
Who it’s best for: The guy who loves extra data, especially for overall health.
What to know before buying: It’s not meant to replace your running watch. Sizing can be tricky, so start with a sizing kit.

ultrahuman air ring review

Ring AIR is a smart ring that monitors your sleep, movement, and recovery. So it’s basically going to monitor very similar things to your GPS watch, but it’s smaller, with no screen, and is going to give a bit more data than you may be used to.

There’s no subscription fee, no data plan required, just a simple ring that connects to an app and delivers impressively accurate insights.

If he geeks out on data and wants a little more than a watch can give, the Ultrahuman Ring AIR might feel like the missing piece.

Nordictrack X24 Bike ($1999 currently on sale)

Why we recommend it: We love that it offers a variety of workouts through iFit, making indoor cycling a little more exciting.
Who it’s best for: If he’s looking to add low-impact cross-training at home, this is a great indoor bike!
What to know before buying: It’s different from other bikes because it can incline and decline to simulate outdoor rides!

Nordictrack x24 Bike Review

The X24 bike is unlike any other because it actually inclines and declines! That’s right: beyond changing the resistance, you can change the ride angle just like you would on your treadmill.

iFit goes beyond pre-recorded workouts by offering interactive classes that will adjust your machine. Climbing a hill? Watch as the bike tilts upward, or do a regular spin class with resistance adjusting.

What to know before buying: The vibration can be intense, so start at a lower setting to get used to it.

Nomadix Microfiber Towel (starting at $29)

Why we recommend it: It’s not just for yoga; you can use this towel for any workout to help absorb sweat.
Who it’s best for: The super sweaty guy who needs a towel that won’t slip and slide around during a yoga class.
What to know before buying: This does not replace a yoga mat, just something to use in addition to.

yoga gifts for him

A yoga towel makes an excellent gift for yoga practitioners because of its versatility and practical benefits (and it works in ANY gym workout). For yogis, it can mean better hygiene by acting as a barrier between them and the yoga mat, which is especially useful in shared studio settings.

They also improve grip and absorb sweat, ensuring stability and comfort during practice. Yoga towels are easy to clean, portable, and often come in various stylish designs, allowing for personalization.

Moreover, you can use them for other purposes, such as a travel or beach towel, making them a valuable and thoughtful gift for yoga enthusiasts of all levels.

PowerBlock Pro 50 Adjustable Dumbbells ($549)

Why we recommend it: Adjustable dumbbells are a great way to work out at home without needing an entire dumbbell rack,
Who it’s best for: He wants to work out at home but doesn’t have much space for a ton of gym equipment.
What to know before buying: It’s available in two weight options- Pro (5-100lbs) and Sport (3-24lbs).

If floor space is his biggest obstacle to strength training at home, the PowerBlock Pro 50 is worth a look. Each dumbbell takes up less than a square foot, yet the set still replaces close to 20 pairs of traditional dumbbells thanks to its 5- 50 lb range in small increments.

For a lighter option, check out the PowerBlock Sport 24 (3-24 lbs) from Amazon for $219, and for a heavier option, PowerBlock Pro 100 (5-100 lbs) from Amazon for $599.

TRX Suspension Trainer ($189)

Why we recommend it: Use it at home or pack it up on the go to get a solid full-body workout anywhere.
Who it’s best for: The guy who wants a strength-training option without a full gym setup.
What to know before buying: You don’t need much space; however, you’ll need a sturdy, secure anchor point, like a doorway, to set it up.

gifts for strength training

This is such a fantastic at-home strength training tool because it can be used in a HUGE variety of ways and the body weight aspect often appeals more to runners than spending hours hefting weights.

I love that I have been able to take this with us each time we’ve moved, again without having a whole set of dumbbells to worry about. Plus, it’s also great if you just want to have variety while going some home workouts.

Quick Locking Weight Lifting Belt ($35)

Why we recommend it: This belt will help you feel more stable when lifting heavier weights in the gym.
Who it’s best for: The guy who is lifting heavy weights and wants a little extra support.
What to know before buying: A lifting belt isn’t necessary for every workout, but it can add extra support during super heavy lifts (like squats and deadlifts) to lower the risk of injury.

gifts for weight lifting

There are a ton of workout gifts for him that could fall into this heavy lifting category, including gloves, wrist straps, and knee sleeves. But this is a great place to start!

This will provide extra core and lower-back support for Olympic lifting. Plus, the neoprene is comfortable, and with the quick lock, it’s easy to use, so there are no excuses to skip putting it on. Available in a variety of colors and sizes from XS to XXL, you’ll find the right fit.

Biofreeze Roll-On ($14.98)

Why we recommend it: We love the roll-on design because it’s quick, easy, and mess-free. It’s also easier to apply to spots that patches may not stay on.
Who it’s best for: Anyone looking for temporary relief from sore muscles after a workout or long run.
What to know before buying: It’s not meant to speed up recovery or treat an injury.

biofreeze

Sore muscles after a tough workout or long run? BioFreeze gives a cooling sensation that feels especially nice when your legs are tired.

The roll-on makes it easy to use on the go and doesn’t leave your hands covered in the menthol gel. So you don’t have to worry about rubbing it in your eyes or on your clothes.

It’s compact and can easily be thrown in a gym or running bag.

Who it’s best for: Runners who may be dealing with long-term injuries like arthritis or post-surgery recovery
What to know before buying: It’s not an instant fix, but you can use it daily for relief.

Prungo Review

While no recovery tool can guarantee relief, we found this one helps, especially with tendon issues.

More focused than large panels, it dials right in to the source of pain and has the appropriate wavelengths for deeper tissue repair.

Kuru Draft 2 ($119)

Why we recommend it: Kuru focuses on comfort and support, especially for runners dealing with plantar fasciitis.
Who it’s best for: He wants a comfortable pair of shoes to throw on after a run or to hang around the house.
What to know before buying: The built-in arch and heel support may take a little bit of time to get used to.

kuru draft 2

Our team is loving Kuru shoes more and more because of how comfortable they are. The brand focuses on designing shoes that provide built-in arch support. And we have to say they actually look nice too, unlike some other specialty shoes that look a little geriatric (sorry!).

Even though they’re a mule design, they’re perfect for fall and winter thanks to the cozy lining.

Manduka Yoga Mat ($144)

Why we recommend it: This yoga mat is pricey, but it’s built to last a long time, even with repeated use.
Who it’s best for: The yogi who loves going to classes.
What to know before buying: It’ll take a bit of break-in time before the mat gets super grippy.

If you have a yogi in your life, this is one of the best gifts you can give them. Manduka is an incredible, top-notch brand, making it a great gift option.

The yoga mat offers incredible traction and quality that will last for decades. It’s truly something you invest in once and reap the rewards for years to come. It provides exceptional comfort and stability while doing yoga, making it a cult favorite.

Aftershokz OpenSwim Pro ($229)

Why we recommend it: You can use them for any activity, but we love that they’re waterproof for swimming!
Who it’s best for: Triathletes or anyone who likes to add swimming as cross-training and wants to listen to something while they work out.
What to know before buying: Bluetooth is not going to work underwater, but you can download music to the built-in MP3 storage.

swimming gifts

You might be considering gifting a friend some Apple AirPods, but those aren’t the best for swimming. In fact, very few of us have earbuds that are truly made for swimming.

We might sweat in them A LOT, but that’s different than being submerged. Luckily, these will meet that demand and be great for running and biking!! The bone conduction means our ears aren’t blocked, so we can always hear what’s happening around us.

They are not, however, Bluetooth compatible! So I would probably only use them to swim as you have to load what you want to hear onto them.

But since they’re fully submersible and waterproof, they are truly incredible and will make just about any swimmer super happy!

Bonus points because you can still wear them for running, biking and other activities!

Why we recommend it: It’s a lightweight, packable blanket that still keeps you warm.
Who it’s best for: Great for aid stations if he likes to run long trail races.

If camping (or overnight racing) is his thing, a warm blanket from Rumpl is perfect to have in the aid station for those overnights.

The blankets have snaps that turn them into a cape, which is perfect for keeping the crew warm while waiting or wrapping around a runner who needs to recharge.

It also makes a great gift for adventurers who plan on thru-hiking and will need warm but lightweight gear to carry in their packs.

Thule T 2 Pro (starting at $599)

Why we recommend it: It’s sturdy and super easy to use, and bonus points because you don’t have to do anything to your bike before loading it on!
Who it’s best for: Runners and cyclists who regularly go on bike adventures.
What to know before buying: You’ll need a compatible hitch on your car to attach the bike rack.

Thule Bike Rack

Know someone who loves cycling? Then they’ve probably mentioned to you how tricky it can be to transport your bike! And when that much cash has been laid down for a bike, you absolutely don’t want to see if flying off the back ans you motor down the highway.

Our new SUV needed a rack so we could stop throwing the bike in the back and this one wins the day!

David did a ton of research and while this rack is more than others, it ensures that our bikes aren’t banging into each other, it’s stable and feels secure for long hauls to new trails.

We’ve now used it for a few years and it’s held up extremely well and kept that very expensive mountain bike in good shape. So I’ll highly recommend it as the perfect birthday or Christmas gift for the cyclist in your life.

Nordictrack 1750 ($1,999 current sale price)

Why we recommend it: It’s a treadmill built to handle thousands of miles.
Who it’s best for: Anyone looking for a reliable treadmill for anything from easy runs to marathon training.
What to know before buying: It folds up, but it still needs plenty of space.

nordictrack 1750
from Terri Steffens

The NordicTrack 1750 is the sibling of the 2450 and one of the treadmills our team recommends often. While both are great machines, the 1750 is about $500 less and has different features like a smaller screen.

The 1750 actually has a 6-inch higher step-up to the platform. This generally isn’t a big deal unless you are putting your treadmill in a basement, where you need to account for ceiling height.

Just set it up to zone out and run or follow an iFit program to keep yourself distracted.

Speediance Gym Monster 2 ($3,387)

Why we recommend it: It’s a compact machine with guided workouts that makes it easy to lift heavy.
Who it’s best for: The fella who wants to strength train but has limited space.
What to know before buying: While it’s a compact piece of equipment, it’s very heavy and not a piece you’ll want to move around a lot.

Speediance review

A BIG expenditure, but when you consider that a Lifetime Fitness membership here for two people is $300/month…maybe not such an expense after all. Plus it has a small footprint and doesn’t attach to the wall.

The Speediance is a full-body workout machine that can be used for cable workouts, barbell workouts, rowing, or as a ski erg. It’s become a go-to for Coach Amanda’s husband, who loves the follow-along workouts and having a cable machine at home.

It has a very small footprint and would work well in many apartments or condos.

DeerRun A5 Pro Smart 2 In 1 ($249)

Why we recommend it: A budget-friendly walking pad that is easy to store when you’re not using it.
Who it’s best for: Anyone who wants to add a little more movement throughout their day.
What to know before buying: While it goes up to 7mph, it’s probably best for walking.

Deerrun treadmill review

I picked out this option when looking for something that could do double duty in my husband’s office. This treadmill allows you to keep the handle bars laid down to slide it under a desk for walking up to 3.8 mph.

Bonus points because yoyu can keep the rails down or you can put the handrails up for more stability and and to increase the speed all the way to 7.0mph for your power walking needs.

\This won’t have the big cushioned deck like many, but will be very small, easy to move, and work in multiple spaces.

The belt feels plenty wide, but isn’t overly long. Those of us with longer legs are going to find it less comfortable for running, as noted.

What is a good fitness gift for a man?

Think about how he likes to sweat and pick something that supports that. The best workout gift should make his routine easier or more enjoyable, something he’ll want to grab for again and again.

What do you get a guy who loves working out?

Pay attention to what he talks about most (running, lifting, recovery, or even his goals). Get him something that supports those interests, whether that’s gym equipment for smaller spaces, a recovery tool, or something as small as a jump rope.

What are good fitness gifts under $50?

Plenty of fitness gift ideas are well under $50. Think of things he uses all the time; you can never go wrong with another pair of socks, a protein shaker, or even a pack of resistance bands! If you need an idea for budget-friendly gifts, we have some here.

What do you get a gym guy who has everything?

Consider experiences like a sports massage, a ClassPass gift card, or even a racecation so he has something to look forward to. Or, if you’ve noticed a piece of his gear is well-loved from constant use, maybe upgrade him to the newest version.

Is a fitness tracker a good gift?

Yes, especially for a guy who loves data or wants it to work toward a goal like better sleep, hitting his daily steps, or even his first 5k.

What fitness gifts should you avoid buying?

Avoid fitness gifts that require knowing a specific size unless he’s given you his specifics for clothes and/or running shoes. Also, steer clear of bulky or large fitness equipment unless he’s sent over a link to something he’s been eyeing.
