I can see it being useful for runners, teachers, nurses, and anyone who is logging a lot of time on their feet.
At $109.99 (plus shipping and tax), the Airflow Go is among the more affordable options of all the calf massagers on the market. Hyperice and Homedics will cost at least three times as much.
Now granted, my spouse will massage my feet and calves for free, but I can’t necessarily take him anywhere I want. The set is conveniently lightweight and portable, so it’s feasible to take it to work, to a race, or on a trip.
My biggest question, though, was whether it is worth having a massager only for my calves. My feet always need some work, too. To find out, I put the massager to the test during a 50k training block.

Nekteck Airflow Go Cordless Air Compression Calf & Leg Massager Overview
The Airflow Go is a recovery tool meant to be carried in a bag and used whenever or wherever you need a massage. You don’t have to wait until you get home to get some relief for tight calves.
What you get when you open the box is two identical nylon fabric bands with a rectangular control device attached.
The bands strap around your lower legs and secure with two large pieces of Velcro. Instructions say to position the controls on the side of your leg and adjust the fabric to fit securely, but not too tightly.
When not in use, the massage bands fit into a drawstring bag. The charging cords and instructions can also tuck inside.
The settings on the control wands include 5 compression modes and 5 intensity levels. Compression is applied through a 3-chamber, 5-airbag system in various patterns based on the mode you select. 
What perplexed me the most about the massager is why on earth it would only focus on the calves.
Well, the point seems twofold. For one, portability seems to be a major priority for the design. Perhaps most importantly, the calves are worth the extra care and focus as the “second heart” of the body. They play an important role in circulation.
Now, I’m not a doctor, and I have no business saying whether or not this massager definitively helps with circulation, but it does feel really nice to sit down and experience the dynamic compression.
In fact, I’m using them as I write this sentence, and it certainly feels like they are helping me recover from the back-to-back long runs I enjoyed this weekend.
In terms of competition, this massager is up against a number of other portable and corded compression tools that wrap around the leg in about the same manner.
This design does not include heat therapy, and some others do, including some around the same price point.
However, not every other brand is very well-known. As a company, Nekteck has a reputation for affordable electronic recovery products, including their popular Shiatsu Neck and Back Massagers.
Their products are popular and easy to find at major retailers. However, feedback on long-term durability and customer service seems to be mixed online.

How the Nekteck Airflow Go Feels
If you have persistent calf tightness, you need a long-term solution, and this isn’t a magic wand. That being said, I do enjoy having the Airflow Go as a part of my overall training and recovery routine.
The compression itself is snug without feeling restrictive. The higher intensity settings pack a real punch, so sticking to the lower end of the range can still feel like you’re getting a solid massage.
Over this last year, I trained for and ran my first-ever 50k trail race, fell in love with everything about that experience, and now I’m training to run another one about a month before I run my fourth NYC marathon.
Needless to say, I’m running a lot. However, the trickiest part of training lately hasn’t been the actual running.
Addressing my seated posture is a top priority, as is mobility and strength work.
But I’ve also found that, at least anecdotally, using the Airflow Go at least once a day (usually more) alleviates a bit of stiffness.
It’s also quieter than I expected; there’s a low whir and hiss from the compression engine, but it’s easy to tune out.
I will definitely keep enjoying the compression as long as they last. Which brings me to one of my concerns. How long will these last?
Nekteck Airflow Go Battery & Durability
The max run time per cycle is 20 minutes, and a full battery charge allows the devices to run for up to 3 hours cumulatively before needing to recharge. 
The pair lasted a week of daily use until I needed to recharge. It took just shy of 4 hours to bring the battery from completely dead to fully charged. However, feedback on long-term durability and customer service seems to be mixed online
How the Nekteck Airflow Go is Designed
The Airflow Go also has some additional quirks. It’s not easy to have the same compression experience on both calves at the same time. If you want to get close to synchronization, you have to push both power buttons and setting buttons at precisely the same time.
I’ve gotten the hang of this with some practice because it feels important to me to have close to identical sensations on each leg.
However, this brings me to my next point. The units are not symmetrical.
There are moments in the compression sequence where one calf receives pressure in a spot that the other calf doesn’t and can’t because the units are not mirror images of one another. This is the one aspect of the design that I may have to research to understand why it’s set up that way a bit more.
Even with the quirks, I’m happy to have and frequently use the Airflow Go. I can’t really imagine taking them to the gym, but they will definitely go with me to the 50k race.
I think it will feel great to lie down in the grass, eat a tasty meal, and relax with some calf compression after crossing the finish line.
