If you’re ready to move beyond handheld red light therapy devices and want something that can treat larger areas in a single session, the Helio Cure Helio Glow is worth a look.
Designed for home use, this mid-sized red light therapy panel combines six clinically relevant wavelengths with simple preset programs, making it approachable for beginners while still offering advanced customization for experienced users.
The Helio Glow stands out for its generous treatment area, inclusion of its wide range of wavelengths, and user-friendly controls.
While it is a premium investment, it offers many of the features typically found on higher-end professional panels.
The biggest thing to know is that this isn’t an immediate fix situation. While some people find noticeable results in a single session, consistency is key for most.
Red light therapy has a lot of studies and yet still a lot of questions, so let’s talk about what this particular tool can do.
Who is it Good For?
- Active individuals looking to support muscle recovery after workouts
- People managing muscle or joint pain, and inflammation like arthritis
- Anyone interested in improving skin appearance and supporting collagen production
- Users wanting one panel that can treat larger body areas, or multiple areas efficiently
- People who appreciate preset programs but also want manual customization as they become more experienced
If you’re looking for something to treat a larger area of your body, or multiple areas, this is a great investment for you. However, because of its size and included floor stand, it’s less suited for someone who only wants to treat a small area occasionally. A compact panel may be more practical in that situation (Helio Cure has different size options).
Helio Cure Helio Glow Overview
While I was incredibly excited to test out the Helio Glow, I must admit, I was also quite intimidated by such an advanced panel.
My previous experience with red light was somewhat limited. I had what I called my storm trooper helmet of a 3-in-1 knee unit. Heat, vibration, and little red lights. I doubted the efficacy of those tiny red lights in this, but hey they did the trick on my achey knees.

The Helio Glow is definitely more advanced than these, much more. With its six different clinically relevant wavelengths and 216 LEDs, it is easy to find it complicated at first.
Before we dive in to how the Helio Glow functions for us, lets take a look at how red light works in general.
How Does Red Light Work?
Mitochondria, which is your cell’s energy center, absorb light energy when it enters the body. This absorption boosts the production of adenosine triphosphate (ATP), providing cells with extra energy needed for repair and regeneration.
The effectiveness and therapeutic applications vary depending on the wavelength used, as each penetrates tissue to different depths.
Let’s look at the different wave lengths and what they are designed for:
Red Light (630-670nm)
- Penetrates 8-10mm deep into skin tissue — It gets absorbed quickly by these upper layers which is why it doesn’t reach deeper
- Used for: surface-level skin conditions like wrinkles, fine lines, acne, wound healing, scar reduction, and overall skin rejuvenation
- Can also active the white blood cells, which may have a systemic anti-inflammatory effect
Near-Infrared Light (810-850nm)
- Penetrates much deeper, up to 40mm or more – less absorbed by hemoglobin allowing it to go deeper
- Used for: deeper tissue issues like muscle recovery, joint pain, inflammation, bone healing, nerve regeneration, and potentially internal organ function
- Promotes nerve healing, collagen production, repair of damaged muscle fibers, remodeling of bone
Deep Near-Infrared Light (1064nm)
- Provides the deepest tissue penetration reaching large joints and bone marrow
- Use for: Managing deep chronic pain, and accelerating bone healing.
- Associated with bone regeneration, stem cell activation, and recovery from stubborn soft-tissue injuries

How To Use
The Helio Glow panel is super easy to use once you know which program you want to use. The number of times I have found myself going back to the user manual could be considered over thinking.
They include a ton of information about what each mode can help with, and tips for getting the most out of your session.
Each mode has a recommended distance (basically 1-3 feet away from the panel), what eye protection is recommended, and length of time.
Fortunately, once you choose your mode, you hit the button on the side touchscreen or on the remote and the panel sets the timer for you for the recommended time.
According to Helio Cure, it is as easy as 1-2-3:
- Set Up: Place on a stable surface. Plug in, turn on, put on eye protection.
- Pick Your Mode: Use the touchscreen or remote to select one of 5 precision modes, full spectrum, or custom.
- Start Healing: Sit or stand 1-3 feet away. 10-20 minutes per session, 3-5 times a week.
Modes
One of the Helio Glow’s biggest advantages is that it removes much of the guesswork by offering condition-specific presets.
The panel includes:
- Face & Skin – emphasizes wavelengths commonly used for skin appearance and collagen support.
- Pain & Inflammation – optimized for muscles and joints.
- Weight Loss – designed around the company’s body-contouring protocol.
- Brain Health – utilizes near-infrared wavelengths intended for head-focused sessions.
- Hair – configured for scalp and hair wellness.
In addition, you can choose:
- Full Spectrum Mode – activates all wavelengths together.
- Custom Mode – allows independent adjustment of wavelength channels, intensity, treatment duration, and pulse frequency for a more personalized session.
My Experience with Helio Glow
Timing was perfect for testing. I am currently returning to run after knee replacement surgery 6 months ago. And my husband has just wrapped up training, and racing his first olympic distance triathlon in 14 years.
So to say we needed all the help we could get for recovery is an understatement.
I have now used it about 5 days a week for about 2-3 weeks and I am loving it. I am finding inflammation is down and oddly, my range of motion is better.
I have tried a few of the different modes, though I do need to have a bit more time and consistency to notice anything dramatic. I am learning how each different wavelength helps different areas and it has been interesting to see how the visible light changes.
Even though the weather has been crazy warm here, I have been enjoying the heat this brings to the treatment area without heating up the entire room.
My favorite part so far is the 15-20 minutes of meditation and calm I get each day when I use it.
My husband has tested it out on an eczema flair while working from home and was shocked at how his symptoms went down in just one usage.
A few things to note about the unit itself. While not having an app required for usage, I was a little disappointed there was not an option for one to at least track. So I am tracking manually what modes I am using to see if I notice any results.
The unit itself is a bit on the heavy side. There is however a convenient handle built in and wheels on the stand. I have moved this numerous times around the house, up and down stairs, and it has been quite easy to do so. It does also slide easily under a bed if you really do need to hide it away.
Our Verdict
The Heliocure Helio Glow strikes a nice balance between convenience and customization. Beginners can simply choose one of the preset modes and start treatment, while experienced users have the flexibility to fine-tune wavelengths, intensity, pulse frequency, and timing.
Its combination of six wavelength – including deep 1064nm near-infrared – along with a large treatment area makes it an appealing option for users who want one panel capable of addressing multiple wellness goals. While the upfront cost is significant, the included stand, remote, accessories, and long warranty help round out the overall value for someone planning to use red light therapy consistently at home.
