Asics is adding a super fast and featherweight racing and training shoe to its Meta lineup. Expected to slide in under the more long distance-oriented Metaspeed Edge, Metaspeed Sky, and Metaspeed Ray, the all-new Metasleek is expected to bring a speedy and grounded option to the lineup.

While the aforementioned Metaspeed supershoes give runners an option based on an individual runner’s style, the Metasleek is designed for a grounded feel and a more natural foot motion with an emphasis on speed and a barely there feel.

Keep on reading for a preview of what’s to come with the all-new Asics Metasleek!

Asics Metasleek Specs

This is a much lower stack than we’re seeing across racing shoes right now and this is going to appeal to a lot of runners who’ve decided they just don’t want so much underfoot.

  • Heel-to-toe drop: 8 mm
  • Weight: 4.6 ounces
  • Stack: 30 mm
  • Colorways: 1 colorway upon launch
  • Available in wide sizes? No
  • Price: $225, releasing in August 2026

What the Metasleek Brings to the Table

The Asics Metasleek will have a full length FF Turbo2 midsole underfoot. FF Turbo2 is an aliphatic TPU based foam, and is the same foam used in the popular Megablast, just considerably less of it.

A-TPU is widely considered the next thing in the superfoam arm wrestling contest, often surpassing PEBA in terms of energy return and durability. A 2025 study done by Puma showed A-TPU retains 88% of its resilience (bounciness) over the course of a marathon, compared to 85% for PEBA. Additionally many PEBA foams lose their bounce in the 150 to 200 mile range, A-TPU can last considerably longer.

A Motion Wrap 3.0 upper wraps the foot securely to the last, built with a narrow heel and midfoot and widening out at the forefoot and the toe box. This design looks to hold the midfoot and heel securely while leaving plenty of room for the front of the foot to splay during hard interval sessions.

The outsole will keep consistent with the rest of the Meta line with ASICSGRIPS lining the natural high abrasion zones, starting at the outer edge of the heel and covering the majority of the forefoot for secure traction. A single strip lines the medial heel.

Who is the Asics Metasleek for?

  • Wide Feet: With its wider forefoot and toe box, those with wider feet will have more room for toe splay during runs.
  • Heavier Runners: The softer foam and lower stack might not be the best option for heavier runners.
  • Long runs: Those with great mechanics could go the distance, but it might be better suited to single-digit mileage runs.
  • Front of the pack: The Metasleek is built for speed.

Where will the Metasleek Fit in Asics’ Lineup?

As you may be aware, the rest of the Meta line is geared towards the Marathon and Half Marathon distance. The Metaspeed Ray is really the tip of the spear in the lineup, as it is geared more towards the truly elite runner and is biased towards forefoot running.

The Metaspeed Edge and Sky Tokyo differ in their individual setups, with the Edge being designed for runners who increase their cadence when speeding up, and the Sky designed for runners who increase their stride length when running at faster paces. Coach Amanda reviewed both the Metaspeed Edge and Sky and the full review and comparison can be read here.

The new kid on the block, the Metasleek, will be geared towards 5K and 10K races, and give runners a low stack option for speedy interval workouts where you might want to let the lower leg muscles do most of the work in your stride.
