Adidas is a hot topic right now following the 2026 London Marathon world-record finish. From daily trainers to race-day super shoes, Adidas has seriously stepped up its running lineup over the last few years.

Did you know Adidas was founded by one brother… and the other created Puma?! Look out for those family feuds!

The iconic 3 stripes appeared in 1949. On what is now considered a classic casual Adidas shoe, pretty impressive that a style has lasted so long and is still used by many soccer players.

In the 60s, Adidas began to gain attention in the running world. But again in the 80’s, Adidas introduced a soccer cleat that is still used today!

The 2000’s were when they really started to hit their stride, and they have continued to develop new technologies to make their running shoes some of the most loved.

Best Adidas Running Shoes Right Now

Our testing team is made up of runners of all paces and experience levels, so based on their feedback, we put together a list of the Adidas running shoes that actually stand out once you get beyond the hype.

Best All Around Adidas Running Shoe – Adidas Adizero EVO SL

This is going to be the perfect shoe to carry you through long runs, while still allowing you to pick up the pace for half and even full marathon miles.

You’re not going to find all the fancy bells and whistles packed into the midsole, just some nice foam underfoot.

Lighstrike Pro is their top of the line foam. It’s the lightest with the best energy return and we’re finding it here in a $150 daily trainer, that’s fairly unusual.

The Adidas EVO SL is not as bouncy as a carbon plated shoe and not as soft as a daily trainer. It’s a blend right in the middle that allows for that energy return, but if you’re used to something like the Nimbus or NB 1080 that are super soft it could feel firm.

Adidas Evo SL Review

While we’re not reaching for this shoe on the days we want to do 7:00min repeats, we did enjoy it on longer miles where we wanted to put in some pick ups.

And in general, a lightweight shoe, with energy return on a long run is a really fabulous thing for the legs no matter the pace.

  • No wide options
  • A little firm for the stack height

Best for Rainy and Snowy Runs – Adidas Adizero EVO SL ATR

If you love this shoe and want a weatherproof option, we recommend checking out the Adidas EVO SL ATR for rainy and snowy runs.

As Adidas said, they wanted runners “to still be able to run in their favorite shoe when the weather gets bad, or the roads get slushy.” They for sure nailed it!

Best Max Cushion Adidas Running Shoe – Adidas Hyperboost Edge

The Hyberboost Edge straddles the line between a daily trainer and a super trainer. It’s got a ton of cushion with a lighter weight and allows you to make easy runs a little faster, but it’s not the shoe for your hardest workouts or fastest runs.
Unlike many super trainers with a carbon plate, these shoes have a continuous outsole. The LIGHTTRAXION outsole extends from heel to toe. You’ll feel more stable on both cement and gravel packed trails, compared to carbon-plated shoes.
Adidas Hyperboost Edge Overview
And that’s the biggest difference in why this feels more like a daily trainer. It’s not a bouncy carbon plated shoe, it feels more like a lightweight well cushioned shoe that you could use for miles and miles.

Designed to rival other super trainers, I found this shoe to fall somewhere in the middle of a daily trainer and super trainer. It’s a bit too responsive for easy runs, and yet less responsive than other speed shoes on the market.

This is absolutely a shoe for the middle and back of the pack who need a little extra edge, if you will, and enjoy a lot of cushion. It’s going to be an ideal marathon shoe for those over 4+ hours.

Specifications

Quick Take

Pros
  • Highly cushioned for shock absorption
  • Lightweight
  • Not overly soft for max stack
Cons
  • No breathability in the upper
  • Very high heel collar causes Achilles irritation
  • Premium price tag

Best Stability Shoe – Adidas Duramo SL 2

Utilizing their stable frame, you’ll find your foot less likely to fall inward. While you will still enjoy the benefit of the full-length LIGHTMOTION foam midsole to provide both responsiveness and cushion.

This is not a plush cushion due to the nature of a stability shoe, but it’s comfortable.

It has a lightweight upper mesh that has just enough padding to provide a comfortable ride without your feet overheating.

It’s durable outsole made from Adiwear materials will grip whatever terrain you’re running on, especially pavement and track.

Specifications

Quick Take

Pros
  • Budget-friendly option
  • Versatile use for running, traveling, or standing all day
  • A wider base for stability.
Cons
  • Not a lot of bounce or pop
  • Not a lot of cushioning underfoot
  • More of a firmer feel

Best Daily Trainer – Adidas Supernova Rise 3

If you already know that Adidas is a great fit for you, then you’re going to find the Supernova Rise is an everyday trainer that will get you through a lot of miles. While this is absolutely a great cushioned shoe, it’s not what we would consider a max cushion when compared to other shoes on the market.

We’ve been on the fence about this model in the past, but the Supernova Rise 3 had a lot of great changes made to it, especially the snazzy colorway!

This is not a stability shoe, but it can certainly help some with pronation.

adidas supernova rise 3 specs

They’ve included a new super foam called the Dreamstrike+, and second, they’ve also added a Support Rod System. Technically, the Supernova Solution (Coming 2024) will be the stability version of the Rise, but anytime we’re adding rods, there’s some stability being implemented.

An option that would be good for those who want one shoe for daily training through speed sessions.

Specifications

Quick Take

Pros
  • Lightweight with just the right amount of cushion.
  • Durable outsole that’s not going to wear down super fast.
  • A wider base for stability.
Cons
  • Sizing runs big, go a half size down.
  • Laces are super short.
  • If you’re not used to the Adidas lineup, it may feel like a bulky shoe.

Best Race Day Adidas Running Shoe – Adidas Adizero Adios Pro EVO 3

This is the shoe that’s now the talk of the town because it was worn for the first evere sub 2-hour marathon at the 2026 London Marathon.

The Adios Pro EVO 3 is more than just a pretty facade. Lightweight and loaded with the latest cutting edge tech.

Coming in 30% lighter than its predecessors and with 11% greater energy return, this shoe is designed to go FAST.

Never one to shy away from standing out from the crowd of full-length carbon fiber plates, a carbon fiber ENERGYRIM between two layers of foam wraps around the edge of the foot, providing stability and propulsion at toe-off. The surface of the ENERGYRIM is a mirror too.

If you loved the Adios Pro EVO and EVO 2, chances are you’ll love the Adios Pro EVO 3 as well. The price tag is high and you can’t expect hundreds, or maybe even one hundred miles out of this shoe, for the right runner you could be ending up with a new marathon PR in your next outing.

Adidas says this shoe isn’t just for the winners, but for anyone in that 2:30 to 3 hour marathon range.

What Sets Adidas Apart?

There are so many shoes in the market today, but what makes Adidas stand out? No matter which pair you choose, you’ll find a few features that set them apart.

Fit

Adidas shoes are generally reported to run true to size. They often run a bit more narrow, and they rarely offer wide widths.

We’ve found through our testing that, sometimes, the more recent models may require sizing half a size down, but that’s just another reason to make sure you try on the shoe before buying. Or get it from somewhere with a good return policy!

Cushioning

Adidas is known for its Lightstrike Pro foam. It’s lightweight, springy, and just the right amount of cushion that it doesn’t feel like you’re ever sinking into the shoe.

Even their daily trainers feel fast and responsive on those easier runs because the foam is that comfortable.

Stability

A lot of the shoes here will have a denser midsole and more heel lock to help prevent overpronation. You’ll also find a wider platform so that you feel supported with every step.

Durability

Flip an Adidas shoe over, and you’re likely to find Continental Rubber to help with the grip and lifespan of the shoe. Even on the speedier race-day models, you’re likely to find a reinforced outsole that withstands a lot of wear and tear.
