Solar energy is how it works  Solar Energy by capturing the sun's energy and electricity for your home or business (Electricity) works by changing. Our Sun is a natural nuclear reactor . It releases small packets of energy called photons, which travel 93 million miles from the Sun to the Earth in about 8.5 minutes. Every hour, enough photons continue to meet our planet. There are enough to generate enough solar energy to theoretically satisfy global energy needs for a full year.

Photovoltaic electricity currently accounts for only five-tenths of one percent of the energy consumed in the United States . But as solar technology is improving and the cost of solar panel (solar panel price) is falling rapidly, our ability to achieve the abundance of solar energy is increasing.

The 2017 report from the International Energy Agency states that solar has become the world's fastest-growing source of energy - the first time the development of solar energy has led to a shortfall in all other fuels. In the coming years, we will all be taking advantage of electricity from solar power in one way or another .

Solar power system
When photons collide with a solar cell , they loose electrons from their atoms. If the conductors are connected to the positive and negative sides of the cell, it forms an electrical circuit. When electrons flow through such circuits, they generate electricity. Many cells make a solar panel , and multiple panels can be wired together to form a solar array.

How do solar panels generate electricity? - How Do Solar Panels Generate Electricity

PV solar panels generate direct current (DC) electricity. With DC power, electrons flow in a direction around a circuit. This example shows a battery to be a light bulb. Electrons are transferred from the battery's negative point, through the lamp, and return to the battery's positive point.

With AC (Alternate Current) electricity, electrons are pushed and pulled, periodically reversing direction, like the cylinders of a car engine. The generator generates AC power when the AC coil rotates next to the magnet . Many different power sources can "turn on the handle" of this generator, such as gas or diesel fuel, hydropower, nuclear, coal, wind, or solar.

AC power was chosen for the American power grid , mainly because it is less expensive to transmit over long distances. However, solar panels make DC power. How do we get DC power in AC grid? For this we use an inverter .

The inverter converts DC to alternating current (AC) power.
The electrical panel sends power to your lights and equipment.
The utility meter measures the energy you draw and feeds back to the grid.
How to improve your solar power system?
Purchase highly efficient solar panels for high production capacity per unit area .

Optimize the angle of the solar panel so that it is directly perpendicular to the sun's rays for the maximum time during the day .

Keep empty space for airflow between and below the panels for heat dissipation through convection.
Solar energy system closer to its storage controller (Solar power system) installed. Use coarse-diameter highly pure copper wires to avoid voltage drop.
Keep your solar panels clean to get more sunlight to the cells under the glass.
